House Passes Bill That Would Criminalize Private Gun Sales

The Pelosi led House passed a universal background check gun control focused bill on Thursday which would criminalize private gun sales done without an FBI background check.

H.R. 8 was sponsored by Representative Mike Thompson of California and passed with a vote of 227-203.

H.R. 8 was passed by the House in 2019 as well, but was never taken up by the Republican-controlled Senate.

Recent democrat gains in the senate suggests things could be different this time around for H.R. 8.

Ohio State Representative Mike Loychik tweeted out that he’s working on legislation on the state level to prevent the bill from affecting Ohio residents.

The NRA tweeted the following regarding the controversial bill:

“If Congress is serious about the safety of law-abiding citizens, it should have passed concealed carry reciprocity so that Americans can safeguard themselves and their families across state lines and throughout our country during these dangerous times” said the NRA in a statement.

Do you think H.R. 8 is unconstitutional? Do you believe H.R. 8 could pass the senate? Tell us your thoughts below!
