House Democrats Question TV Carriers For Hosting Fox News, Newsmax, and OAN Over ‘Misinformation’

The House Democrats’ fight against ‘misinformation’ regarding elections has a new target in sight this week: Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News (OAN).

Two House Democrats sent a letter to AT&T, Comcast (or as President Trump likes to call it ‘Concast’), Amazon and other channel distributors asking if they planned to continue carrying the popular conservative news networks Fox News, Newsmax, and OAN.

Rep Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Rep Jerry McNerney (D-CA) erratically claimed that the highly respected news networks were, “misinformation rumor mills and conspiracy theory hotbeds that produce content that leads to real harm.”

Their borderline Marxist letters were sent to 12 cable/satellite/and streaming companies.

The letters were sent in preparation for Wednesday’s hearing on the spread of disinformation/extremism on traditional media platforms, including broadcast and cable networks. The hearing is being held by the House Energy & Commerce’s Communications and Technology Subcommittee, of which Eshoo and McNerney are both members.

Newsmax blasted the Democrat Members of Congress for their attempts to censor them releasing the following statement:

“The House Democrats’ attack on free speech and basic First Amendment rights should send chills down the spines of all Americans. Newsmax reported fairly and accurately on allegations and claims made by both sides during the recent election contest. We did not see that same balanced coverage when CNN and MSNBC pushed for years the Russian collusion hoax, airing numerous claims and interviews with Democrat leaders that turned out to be patently false.”

The letters has been rightly and widely criticized by conservatives and even some members of the legacy media for their “chilling” transgression against freedom of speech. American Journalist and Author, Glenn Greenwald described the letters as a form of “bullying tactics.”

Should Congress have the authority to question cable/satellite companies for the channels they decide to host on their platforms? Is this a sign of additional forms of censorship to come? Comment your thoughts below!
