Steve Bannon Floats Idea of Former President Trump Running for Congress in 2022 to Become Speaker

President Trump’s former strategist, Steve Bannon has been floating his latest idea which includes former President Trump running for Congress in Florida during the upcoming 2022 elections.

According to the Boston Herald, while speaking to the West Roxbury Ward 20 Republican Committee, Steve Bannon said that his newest strategy was for former President Trump to run for Congress in 2022, and then become the Speaker of House (assuming the GOP takes back the majority).

The US Speaker of the House does not technically have to be an elected Member of Congress, but in Bannon’s dream scenario, the former President residing in West Palm Beach would also be a Member of Congress.

Bannon said that the strategy would, “totally get rid of Nancy Pelosi, and the first act of President Trump as speaker will be to impeach Joe Biden for his illegitimate activities.”

The unlikely idea would make President Trump the second US President to serve in the Congress AFTER leaving the White House, President John Quincy Adams was the first.

It’s also unclear where President Trump would run for Congress in the State of Florida if this were to happen. His Congressional district is currently represented in a heavy blue district by Rep Lois Frankel (D-FL) who recently defeated controversial right-wing firebrand Laura Loomer (R-FL) in a landslide.

Members of the House of Representatives do not have to live in the same district they run in.

Bannon’s plan would be for President Trump to only remain in Congress until the 2024 Election where he would run for President again.

Bannon added that, “Trump is a disruptor, but he has a long-term vision because I absolutely believe in the marrow of my bones that he will be our nominee in 2024.”

“He’ll come back to us. We’ll have a sweeping victory in 2022, and he’ll lead us in 2024,” Bannon concluded.

It’s important to note that Bloomberg reported in January that Bannon was reportedly advising President Trump again after the former President left office.

President Trump also granted Bannon a pardon in the final moments of his term as President.

Would you support the idea of President Trump running for Congress in 2022 to become Speaker of the House? Do you believe Bannon’s idea is far-fetched? Comment your thoughts below!
