Facebook Oversight Board Upholds Ban on President Trump

The Big Tech company continued its assault on the First Amendment Wednesday as their independent Oversight Board upheld the ban of former President Trump from its platform.

Facebook is a Big Tech company with a liberal bias -- there’s no doubt about it.

“The Board has upheld Facebook’s decision on January 7, 2021, to restrict then-President Donald Trump’s access to posting content on his Facebook page and Instagram account,” the ominously named “Oversight Board” announced recently.

The Board did criticize Facebook’s broad, open-ended suspension.

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro blasted the decision pointing out the Democrat Parties prior support for riots last summer.

Greg Price also pointed out the hypocrisy with the board’s decision pointing to VP Harris’ previous attempts to raise bail money for rioters.

“However, it was not appropriate for Facebook to impose the indeterminate and standardless penalty of indefinite suspension. Facebook’s normal penalties include removing the violating content, imposing a time-bound period of suspension, or permanently disabling the page and account,” the board wrote.

The Board is made up primarily of liberal professors and activists, many of whom likely have a deep-rooted animosity to Trump and conservatives in general.

Andrew Pollack praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ forward thinking on the issue of big tech censorship.

Trump swiftly denounced the decision.

“What Facebook, Twitter, and Google have done is a total disgrace and an embarrassment to our Country,” Trump said according to NBC News.

“Free Speech has been taken away from the President of the United States because the Radical Left Lunatics are afraid of the truth, but the truth will come out anyway, bigger and stronger than ever before,” the former President said.

“The People of our Country will not stand for it! These corrupt social media companies must pay a political price, and must never again be allowed to destroy and decimate our Electoral Process.”

Many came to Trump’s defense.

“The fact that Facebook has courts that decide who can and can't be heard on monopolistic speech platforms is tyrannical,” liberal journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted.

“Here's a reminder that leaders around the world -- many of whom dislike Trump -- condemned Facebook's removal of Trump,” he said, linking to an article.

Senator Josh Hawley, a critic of Big Tech, also blasted the decision.

“Here’s a real life example of the tyranny of #BigTech - a fake @Facebook court decides @Facebook can do whatever @Facebook wants, in this case, suspending Donald Trump w/o process or standards,” the Missouri Republican said.
