REPORT: DC prison won’t allow Members of Congress observe conditions for Jan 6th Rioters

The D.C. Department of Corrections shut out members of the U.S. House, even though Congress has oversight authority over the city.

According to reports, alleged criminals who trespassed at the brief violence in the U.S. Capitol on January 6 have faced continued mistreatment.

But the city’s correctional department refuses to let Congressmen, including Florida Republican Matt Gaetz, see the conditions.

“The DC Department of Corrections locked out multiple Members of Congress from reviewing the conditions of the January 6th prisoners,” Gaetz wrote on July 29. “What are they hiding?”

“Reps. Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Louie Gohmert attempted to visit the January 6 Capitol riot suspects at the DC Department of Corrections on Thursday but were turned away,” Yahoo News confirmed. “They then held a press conference with Virginia Rep. Bob Good, saying that they were ‘concerned’ about the detainees' treatment.”
