Chauvin Trial Judge Calls Maxine Waters’ Statements “Abhorrent” Alludes to Potential Appeal

Judge Cahill, the presiding judge in the Derek Chauvin Trial, called Congresswoman Maxine Waters’ recent statements about the George Floyd case, “abhorrent” and said her statements could be basis for defense appeal.

At the end of Monday’s closing arguments, while denying the Chauvin Defense their call for mistrial, Judge Cahill called California Congresswoman’s statements over the weekend “abhorrent.”

The Judge called out politicians for speaking on a trial they know little about in a conflated hyperbolic manner.

Video footage of the statement from Judge Cahill is shared below:

In addition to saying the Congresswoman’s statements were inappropriate, Judge Cahill added that it could be the basis of an appeal which could in turn lead to a mistrial.

All closing arguments in the trial have been made and all charges are now in the hands of the jury.

Millions of Americans anxiously await the verdict of the Derek Chauvin trial that has been the center of media attention for almost an entire year now.

Business owners are currently in fear over riots potentially breaking out if Chauvin is not found guilty of all charges by the jury. Businesses in Minneapolis and other major cities across the country have even boarded up their windows in anticipation.

Do you think Maxine Waters’ statements are abhorrent? Should the case be appealed? Should Chauvin be found not-guilty? Comment your thoughts below!
