Matt Cartwright Voted Against Bill To Deport Violent Gang Members In U.S. Illegally

In September 2017, Pennsylvania Congressman Matt Cartwright voted against H.R. 3697, the Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act.

On September 14, 2017, Cartwright opposed House Resolution 2697, The Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act, which would define a criminal gang and prohibit individuals defined as foreign criminal gang members from entering the United States.

With the backing of the ACLU, Matt Cartwright opposed this bill with a “NAY” vote. Matt Cartwright also voiced support for a path to citizenship for up to 13 million illegal immigrants.

H.R. 3697 would have also prohibited a criminal gang member who is not a US Citizen or US National from being eligible for certain immigration benefits.

Matt Cartwright has repeatedly refused to explain his opposition to deporting violent illegal immigrants.
